Born in 1956, the same year as Elvis released Heartbreak Hotel and US tests first aerial hydrogen bomb in the Bikini Islands. JFK, Nixon, Elvis and the Beats. The late ’50s and the ’60s was a great and strange time to grow up. There was genuine optimism. It also offers a rich treasure trove of iconic imagery that has become our shared visual cultural heritage. These are some of a series of posters I am working on that explores that theme.
